…Visiting a Local Farm…

Fall Season is the perfect time to visit a local farm and get the freshest, delicious and colorful autumn seasonal produce available in our area.

We just visited the Green String Farm located at the corner of Adobe and Frates roads in Petaluma. The Green String is a 140 acre farm that produces vegetables and fruits for a number of restaurants in the Bay Area. The farm was established in 2003 by Bob Cannard, a farming master, and Fred Cline, who owns Cline Cellars and Jacuzzi Family Vineyards in Sonoma.

I really enjoy the just-picked produce. I got some Japanese & Italian eggplant, sweet red peppers, watermelon and some yummy cherry tomatoes. Besides the fruits and veggies you can get inside the store and get some local virgin olive oil (sell by the ounce), garlic, vinegar, eggs, potatoes, butter, almonds, flour and wheat. In the background you can hear some music from a vintage record player. It adds the perfect touch to the general store feel 🙂

The farm has a very friendly enviroment, I’m sure your kids will enjoy visiting the sheep, goats, cows, and the “Happy Chickens”.
