Let’s Go Fly a Kite at the Berkeley Kite Festival!
Last year we attended the Berkeley Kite Festival held at Cesar Chavez Park at the Berkeley Marina, one of the country’s largest kite festivals. It was very nice to see hundreds of kites in different shapes, colors and sizes decorating the beautiful blue sky.
We arrived early to the parking in the Marina and the Golden Gate Fields to avoid all the congestion. Yes! there is a LOT of traffic going on. Get there early or get delayed!
Parking was $15 and included shuttle buses that took us to the Kite Festival (lines were already long even arriving early)
I recommend to bring food and drinks specially if you have little kids, even though there are vendors and food trucks available it was packed. There were not too many vegetarian options.
Wear comfortable shoes and dress in layers, the marina is very windy but it is hard to predict, sometimes it was very warm, so be prepared. Dogs are welcome but are required to be “on leash” at the festival areas at all times. Dogs are not allowed on the shuttles. 🙁
We had a very nice time at the kite festival but left early to avoid getting stuck in traffic.
